Interesting Information About the Island of Martha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard commonly referred to as "The Vineyard" or "MV" is a small island off the south coast of Cape Cod Massachusetts. The Island is a popular tourist destination in the summer months when the island population swells dramatically from its normally small town quaint lifestyle.

The Vineyard is made up of 6 towns:

Aquinnah (Gay Head)
Chilmark
Edgartown
Oak Bluffs
Vineyard Haven
West Tisbury

There is no bridge accessing MV so a boat or plane is needed to get there. Most people make reservations on The Steamship Authority ferry to get on and off island. Reservations can be difficult to get during the summer months so it is best to make plans well in advance. Many home rentals come with pre-arranged reservations.
